The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, has unveiled the maiden edition of the Ijesa Hall of Fame, aimed at recognising distinguished sons and daughters of Ijesaland for their outstanding contributions to society.

The Hall of Fame initiative was formally announced at the Owa’s Palace in Ilesa, Osun State, during the inauguration of a special committee set up to oversee the selection and celebration of award recipients.

Among those to be honoured in the maiden edition are world-renowned UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, a former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and other prominent indigenes who have excelled in sports, security, business, public service, and national development.

Oba Haastrup explained that the Ijesa Hall of Fame was created to celebrate excellence, inspire younger generations, and acknowledge individuals whose achievements have brought pride and global recognition to Ijesaland.

According to the monarch, the initiative is also part of broader efforts to promote unity, development, and increased homecoming activities for sons and daughters of Ijesaland, while encouraging investment and community growth.

He added that the annual Hall of Fame ceremony would become a major cultural and development-driven event in the Ijesa calendar, with the maiden edition scheduled to hold later this year.

The Owa Obokun further stated that recognising achievers such as Israel Adesanya and other national figures reflects the kingdom’s commitment to celebrating global impact, leadership, and service.

The palace noted that additional names and full details of honourees would be officially announced ahead of the maiden Hall of Fame ceremony.
